Vidushi Singh: 21-year-old UPSC topper who chose IFS over IAS

Daijiworld Media Network – Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh, Oct 10: In 2022, 21-year-old Vidushi Singh from Ayodhya made headlines by clearing the UPSC Civil Services Examination in her very first attempt—securing an impressive All India Rank of 13. What followed was an unconventional choice that set her apart: instead of opting for the coveted IAS or IPS, Vidushi chose the Indian Foreign Service (IFS), reflecting her global aspirations and vision beyond national borders.

A graduate in economics from Delhi University’s prestigious Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC), Vidushi balanced her college studies with UPSC preparation without relying on any coaching institute. Her disciplined, self-guided approach proved that determination and clarity can outshine conventional methods.

Born to an engineer father and a government school headmistress, Vidushi grew up in an environment that valued education and hard work. Her methodical preparation and subject mastery paid off, with 855 marks in the written exam and 184 in the interview—totalling 1039 marks.

At just 21, Vidushi became one of the youngest candidates to achieve such a high rank, inspiring thousands of aspirants across India. Her journey stands as a reminder that success does not depend on age, coaching, or conformity—it stems from vision, perseverance, and the courage to follow one’s true calling.
