Mangaluru, Sep 22: The Mangaluru South police have arrested a man who had been evading arrest for the past nine years in connection with a criminal case registered in 2017.

The arrested accused has been identified as Partha alias Parthasarathi, son of the late Sadashiva Acharya, and a resident of Kelagina Angadi Mane, Jodu Raste in Kukkundoor of Karkala in Udupi district.

A case was originally registered against him at the Mangaluru South police station in 2017 under sections 324, 326, and 504 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). However, the accused had been absconding ever since.

Acting on a Long Pending Case (LPC) warrant issued by the 2nd CJM Court, a police team comprising ASI Ganesh, head constable Manjunath, and police constable Mallik Jan successfully tracked down and apprehended the accused near the Kadri ground.

Following his arrest, the accused was produced before the court, which remanded him to judicial custody.
