Beirut, Oct 11: The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) carried out a strike on Hezbollah infrastructure in southern Lebanon, targeting sites allegedly used to rehabilitate militant networks. The operation, led by the IDF’s Northern Command with the Air Force, aimed at infrastructure storing engineering tools used by Hezbollah to rebuild terror facilities, the military said.
In a statement on X, the IDF said, “The Hezbollah terror organization continues attempts to rehabilitate terror infrastructure throughout Lebanon, endangering civilians and using them as human shields. The presence of the tools and activity of Hezbollah in the area violate understandings between Israel and Lebanon. The IDF will continue to operate to protect the State of Israel.”

Videos circulating on social media showed plumes of orange smoke, while Hezbollah-run al-Manar TV reported a large explosion in the village of al-Najariyah, Sidon district. At least one person was killed and two injured in what was described as “a series of violent air strikes” targeting an exhibition for selling bulldozers and excavators on the outskirts of the village.
Meanwhile, Lebanese authorities have recently arrested 32 people on suspicion of providing Israel with information on Hezbollah that aided the strikes, with nine already tried by the military court and 23 under investigation. Lebanon has no formal ties with Israel, and any contact is punishable by imprisonment.
The strike comes after more than a year of hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah, including two months of open war, during which Israel targeted the group’s arsenal and senior commanders, and continued operations despite a November ceasefire that it claimed Hezbollah violated.
