Sindhudurg, Oct 11: Former Thackeray faction MLA Rajan Teli recently joined Shiv Sena in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde during the Dussehra celebrations in Mumbai, bringing an end to political discord in the district.
Shiv Sena youth leader and MLA Nilesh Rane played a key role in bridging the gap between Teli and Savantwadi MLA Deepak Kesarkar. While in the Thackeray faction, Teli had criticised Nitesh Rane over issues related to Sindhudurg District Bank. Addressing journalists, Nilesh Rane said, “If something wrong happened in the district bank, we will correct it,” ending the controversy.

With three senior leaders now aligned, the focus shifts to Thackeray faction MLA Vaibhav Naik and consolidating Shiv Sena’s stronghold in Sindhudurg ahead of local body elections. Nilesh Rane also hinted at political strategy, stating that while they are open to a Mahayuti alliance, they are prepared to contest independently if necessary.
Rane cautioned Thackeray faction officials, saying that beyond targeting officers and issuing criticism, there was little meaningful work being done. Teli’s earlier remarks on the district bank were personal opinions before joining Shiv Sena, and now as part of the alliance, the matter is considered closed. Both Teli and Kesarkar emphasised that party members should align with the positions of their respective parties, highlighting the unifying role of Eknath Shinde in the reconciliation.
Teli, responding to questions about the bank, said, “I have respect for Sindhudurg District Bank, having served as its chairman, and I want it to thrive. Any issues noticed have been brought to senior leadership for resolution.”
