Mumbai, Oct 11: Harmony Foundation’s founder-chairman, Dr Abraham Mathai, has welcomed the historic peace agreement between Israel and Hamas, brokered by US President Donald Trump, calling it a major step toward lasting harmony. The landmark deal promises the release of hostages and an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, offering hope to regions long scarred by conflict.

Dr Mathai said, “War, in all its cruelty, leaves scars that cross borders and last for generations. Since October 2023, when Hamas attacked Israel, countless families have been torn apart, living under fear and unimaginable hardship. This agreement represents not just a diplomatic breakthrough but a testament to human capacity for reconciliation even after years of suffering.”

He praised President Trump’s 20-point peace plan for creating a clear framework that enabled this first phase of resolution, gaining wide international support. Dr Mathai emphasized that moving forward, Palestinian authorities will need to play a crucial role in curbing violence and dismantling Hamas’s influence to ensure sustainable peace.

“The celebrations in Israel and Palestine reflect how deeply people long for peace. Children and ordinary residents, the innocent victims of war, now feel hope instead of despair. Their joy is a call for the world to unite for harmony,” he added.

Dr Mathai concluded by expressing hope that similar agreements could bring peace to other conflict zones, including Russia and Ukraine, showing that even the most difficult conflicts can find resolution through dialogue and human will.
