Doha, Oct 13: Cricket fever is set to sweep Qatar as the Karnataka Rajatha Cup (KRC) tournament gets underway on October 14 at 7:00 pm at the Qatar Foundation Cricket Ground. The four-day tournament, organized by Karnataka Sangha Qatar and Karnataka Royals Qatar, will run from October 14 to 17, marking a key highlight of Karnataka Sangha Qatar’s silver jubilee year celebrations.

The opening ceremony of the prestigious tournament will be held on Oct 14 at 7 pm, graced by chief guest EP Abdurahiman, president of Indian Sports Center (ISC), who will formally inaugurate the event. Hariprashanth MG, famed for his role in Kantara Chapter 1, will join as guest of honour.

The tournament will feature some of the best cricketing talent across the community, beginning with a curtain-raiser match between Best of India and Best of Karnataka.

The grand finale and closing ceremony, set for October 17, Friday Evening, will feature former Indian cricketer Vijay Bharadwaj and renowned Sandalwood director Harsha as the special guests of honour. The final day will also include a special exhibition match between Indian Embassy XI and the KRC Organising Committee XI, adding a festive finish to the event.

Speaking ahead of the tournament, Karnataka Sangha Qatar president Ravi Shetty said, “KRC is not just about cricket—it’s about celebrating Karnataka’s spirit, sportsmanship, and unity. We welcome everyone to join us for four exciting days of action and togetherness.”

As part of the silver jubilee celebrations, 25 distinguished individuals will be honoured with the ‘Kreeda Rathna’ and ‘Kreeda Poshaka Rathna’ awards in recognition of their outstanding contributions to cricket and sports promotion.

With celebrity guests, competitive matches, and a festive spirit, the Karnataka Rajatha Cup promises to be a grand celebration of cricket and community in Qatar.
