Mumbai, Oct 14: The Karnataka Union of Working Journalists (KUWJ), a prestigious representative organization of working journalists in the state, has announced elections for its 2025-2028 administrative term. KUWJ’s chief election officer N Ravikumar (Telex) has issued an official notification declaring the election.
For the first time, the Maharashtra (Mumbai) and Kerala (Kasargod) units-representing Kannadigas residing outside Karnataka will also participate in this election. Voting will take place in these units for the election of the KUWJ Central Committee.

The Karnataka Union of Working Journalists (KUWJ) is one of the largest journalist organizations in the country, with over 9,000 active working journalist members. Elections will be held simultaneously for the administrative bodies of the state and all district units.
The election notification was issued on Monday (October 12), along with the election schedule and the draft list of voters. The nomination process will begin on Sunday (October 19), and October 27 will be the last date for filing nominations. Scrutiny of nominations will take place on October 28, and October 30 will be the last date for withdrawal of nominations, according to the official announcement.
The voting for the KUWJ Central Committee (Bengaluru) will be held on Sunday, November 9, at the KUWJ Central Office, 3rd Floor, Kandaya Bhavan, K G Road, Bengaluru-09 and at all respective district centres, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm Counting of votes and announcement of results will take place on the same day, said chief election officer N Ravikumar K. R Devaraju has been appointed as the assistant election officer.
The election on November 9 will be held only for the KUWJ Central Committee. Meanwhile, on December 23, 2024, the Maharashtra unit had already conducted its office-bearer elections for the 2024-2027 term in the presence of the Central Committee. However, during the executive and pre-election preparatory meeting of the Maharashtra unit held on Sunday (October 12), discussions were held about possible changes in office bearers, informed Dr Shiva Mudigere, the honorary general secretary of Maharashtra unit.
