California, Oct 16: A small puppy was rescued by firefighters after becoming stranded in a fast-moving flood channel in Oxnard, west of Los Angeles, during a strong storm sweeping through southern California. The Ventura County Fire Department shared the rescue on social media.

According to the department, the dog had gotten trapped on a small cluster of debris at the end of the flood channel. Firefighters used a 35-foot ladder to reach the pup, while one team member entered the water to bring her safely to dry land.

The puppy, believed to be a 3-year-old female pug or French bulldog, was unharmed. She had no tags on her collar and was not microchipped.

She is now under the care of Ventura County Animal Services, which hopes her owner will come forward. If unclaimed, the puppy will be put up for adoption.
