Doha, Oct 18: The Mangalore Cricket Club (MCC) Qatar hosted its second innings Carrom & Ludo Tournament on October 3, at Hamilton International School, marking an exciting day filled with friendly competition and community spirit.
As many as 28 teams of men and 7 teams of women competed in the carrom category, while children participated in two ludo age groups below 10 years and 10–15 years showcasing sharp focus and enthusiasm throughout the day.








































































































The day’s proceedings were skillfully hosted by Anica Dias, who kept the event lively and well-coordinated. Starting the event with a prayer led by cultural secretary Primal Pinto, followed by a warm welcome address by MCC president, Denzil Christine Lobo, who highlighted the club’s mission of fostering cultural and recreational engagement within the community.
The tournament was officially inaugurated through a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Jerald D’Mello, founder member and advisor, alongside president Denzil Christine Lobo, in the presence of the Executive Committee (EXCOM).
Following this, the Emcee introduced Khaleel Khan, the appointed referee for the tournament, highlighting his experience and role in ensuring fair play throughout. Melroy Vaz, joint sports secretary, addressed the participants with detailed briefing on the game rules and guidelines to set the tone for efficient proceedings of the matches in the spirit of sportsmanship.

The prize distribution ceremony was led by president Denzil Christine Lobo and vice president Ryan Renjar, who presented trophies and certificates to the winners and runners-up. A special token of appreciation was presented to Khaleel Khan, carrom referee, by president Lobo in recognition of his steadfast commitment to integrity and excellence in officiating, which greatly enriched the spirit of the event.
The tournament concluded with a gracious note from Shameen Lewis, sport secretary, thanking all participants, volunteers, and supporters who made the event a success. The day not only highlighted remarkable sporting talent but also reflected MCC Qatar’s ongoing commitment to unity, sportsmanship, and cultural pride within the Mangalurean community in Qatar.
