Jaisalmer, Oct 21: Tension gripped the town of Mohangarh in Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer district after two bodies were discovered in a pool of blood early Tuesday morning, triggering shock and fear among locals. The victims, identified as grain trader Madanlal and his accountant Revantram, were found dead near Madanlal’s shop, roughly six kilometres from the Mohangarh Mandi.

The gruesome discovery was made by a local priest, Poker Puri, who was returning from his morning prayers at a nearby Hanuman temple. "I came to wish Madanlal a Happy Diwali and saw several goats near his shop. When I tried to shoo them away, I saw the bodies and immediately called the police," he said.

Initial reports suggest the murders occurred late Monday night, casting a dark shadow over Diwali celebrations. The incident has shaken the local trading community, which has demanded swift arrests and enhanced night patrolling in the area to ensure safety.

Following the alert, a team from the Mohangarh Police Station, along with forensic experts, reached the scene to collect evidence. The bodies were sent for post-mortem, while CCTV footage from the vicinity is being reviewed to piece together the events leading up to the crime.

As news of the killings spread, a large crowd gathered at the site, prompting authorities to deploy additional police forces to maintain order.

Nachna Police Station Inspector Bhuta Ram confirmed an ongoing investigation into all possible motives, including personal enmity and business-related rivalry. “We are examining every angle to determine what led to this brutal double murder on a festive night,” he said.

The community remains on edge as authorities continue their search for suspects in what is now a high-profile case in the region.
