Mangaluru, Oct 23: The final round of the Bible Quiz 2025 was held on October 19 at 3 pm in St Lawrence English Medium School Hall, Bondel. The competition was conducted in two categories — Category A for students from Std 5 to Std 7, and Category B for students from Std 8 to Std 10. Each category featured eight teams, with three members in each team, who enthusiastically participated in this much-awaited event.
The programme began with a formal inaugural function presided over by Fr Andrew Leo D’Souza, parish priest of St. Lawrence Church, Bondel. He was joined on the dais by John D’Silva, vice-president of the parish pastoral council; Santosh Misquith, secretary; Laveena Menezes, catechism coordinator; and the Quiz coordinators, Robin Joseph Sera and Avinash Lobo from Madayanthar.
The presidential address by Fr Andrew Leo D’Souza highlighted the importance of deepening faith through the study of Scripture. He encouraged the students to nurture a love for God’s Word and to live according to the values taught in the Bible. Fr Andrew reminded them that true wisdom comes not only from knowledge but also from applying the teachings of Christ in their daily lives. He appreciated the enthusiasm of all participants and urged them to continue growing in faith, discipline, and service to the Church.
Teacher Sonia Lobo ably compered the programme. The welcome address was delivered by teacher Laveena Menezes, while teacher Juliana Coelho introduced the dignitaries. Teacher Elizabeth Rodrigues proposed the vote of thanks.
The quiz was held simultaneously in two separate venues, one for each category, under the guidance of the catechism teachers. The event was conducted in a professional and well-organized manner, marked by active participation, enthusiasm, and team spirit among the students.
