New Delhi, Oct 27: Union Health Minister JP Nadda on Monday inaugurated the ‘Vigilance Awareness Week 2025’, urging citizens and officials to make vigilance an institutional habit and a shared societal responsibility. The nationwide observance will take place from October 27 to November 2 under the theme ‘Vigilance: Our Shared Responsibility’

The initiative, guided by the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC), aims to strengthen integrity, transparency, and accountability across public institutions while promoting ethical governance and collective action against corruption.

Administering the Integrity Pledge to officers and staff of the Health Ministry, Nadda underscored the need to embed ethical practices into the system. “A checklist of do’s and don’ts should be prepared in simple terms so that people do not commit mistakes in good faith or under emotional consideration. Training and capacity building should be regular to keep everyone aware and alert,” he said.

He added that vigilance should not be seen as a one-time campaign but as a culture ingrained in every layer of governance.

Observed annually in the last week of October to mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the campaign serves as a reminder of Patel’s ideals of integrity and nation-building.

Ahead of this year’s observance, the CVC had launched a three-month Preventive Vigilance campaign from August 18 to November 17, focusing on five areas: clearing pending complaints and cases, capacity building, asset management, and promoting digital governance.

Officials of the Health Ministry reaffirmed their commitment to uphold ethical standards, transparency, and accountability in public service as part of the week-long observance.
