Beltangady, Feb 15: Dr Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala, in his condolence message, stated that he was shocked to hear the sudden demise of state higher education minister Dr V S Acharya who was a member of the governing body of SDM Ayurveda College, Udupi, and supported development of infrastructure in the College.

Both Dr Heggade and Dr Acharya have been close friends for four decades.

Dr Acharya had extensive statistical knowledge about the social, economi, and political aspects of the state and the rest of the country.  His views and criticisms had weightage and he was careful in his statements.

Dr Acharya had deep concern for implementing state programmes rather than mere announcements. His simplicity and virtuous characters makes him different from the rest of the politicians.  His services as higher education minister will always remain in the minds of people.

He prayed to God to give strength to the bereaved family and for Dr Acharya’s soul to rest in peace.
