Washington, Oct 31: In a major breakthrough, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has foiled a potential terrorist plot aimed at carrying out a violent attack in Michigan over the Halloween weekend. Several suspects linked to the planned assault were taken into custody following early-morning operations, officials confirmed on Friday.
FBI Director Kash Patel announced the development on X (formerly Twitter), praising the swift and coordinated action by law enforcement agencies.

“This morning, the FBI thwarted a potential terrorist attack and arrested multiple subjects in Michigan who were allegedly plotting a violent attack over Halloween weekend,” Patel said.
He added, “Thanks to the men and women of the FBI and law enforcement everywhere standing guard 24/7 and crushing our mission to defend the homeland.”
Patel noted that further details of the foiled plot and the identities of those arrested will be shared soon.
The Dearborn Police Department, in a Facebook post, confirmed that FBI agents had conducted operations in the city early Friday morning.
“The Dearborn Police Department has been made aware that the FBI conducted operations in the City of Dearborn earlier this morning. We want to assure our residents that there is no threat to the community at this time,” the statement said.
According to reports by the Associated Press (AP), FBI agents and state police were seen in a neighbourhood near Fordson High School in Dearborn, where investigators were observed removing items from an FBI truck and entering a residence.
The operation, carried out under tight security, comes amid heightened vigilance across the US during the Halloween season, a period often marked by large public gatherings.
Authorities have yet to release information regarding the motive or specific targets of the planned attack, but sources indicate that the FBI’s proactive action likely prevented a major tragedy.
