Mumbai, Nov 2: What was meant to be a night of music and nostalgia turned bitter for many concertgoers as 73 mobile phones, collectively worth Rs 23.85 lakh, were reported stolen during international pop star Enrique Iglesias’ live concert at the MMRDA Grounds, Bandra Kurla Complex, on Wednesday evening.
The Grammy Award-winning Spanish singer, performing in Mumbai for the first time, drew an estimated crowd of over 25,000 fans. However, amid the excitement and packed venue, several attendees fell victim to coordinated thefts.

According to police sources, seven FIRs have been registered so far in connection with the missing mobile phones. The victims include a makeup artist, a hotelier, students, a journalist, and several businessmen — many of whom had paid ticket prices starting from Rs 7,000 to attend the much-awaited event.
Iglesias, 50, performed for about 90 minutes, setting the stage ablaze with some of his biggest chartbusters including Hero, Bailamos, and Tonight (I’m Lovin’ You). The electrifying show brought waves of nostalgia for fans who had waited years to see the global sensation perform live in the city.
While the concert was hailed as a major success musically, the spate of thefts cast a shadow over the evening’s celebrations. Police investigations are underway, and efforts are being made to trace the culprits using CCTV footage and mobile tracking systems.
Authorities have advised concert organizers to strengthen security measures for future large-scale events to ensure the safety of attendees and their belongings.
