Mumbai, Nov 2: The Mumbai Metro Line 3, popularly known as the Aqua Line, has witnessed a tremendous rise in ridership since its launch, recording an impressive 3,333,684 commuters between October 9 and 31. The line has quickly emerged as one of the city’s most preferred modes of transport, providing fast and reliable connectivity across key areas.
According to official reports, the average weekday ridership reached 1,41,024 passengers, while October 31 marked the highest single-day figure with 1,82,461 commuters — a new milestone for the fully underground metro corridor.

Connecting crucial business hubs, residential pockets, and transit zones such as Colaba, Bandra, and SEEPZ, the Aqua Line has been instrumental in easing pressure on Mumbai’s overburdened road and suburban rail systems. Spanning nearly 33.5 km with 27 stations, the route stands as one of the most ambitious urban transport projects in the city’s history, offering commuters a faster, cleaner, and more comfortable travel experience.
In a move to enhance convenience, the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) recently launched a WhatsApp-based ticketing system for Aqua Line passengers. Commuters can now generate QR-code tickets by simply sending a “Hi” to +91 98730 16836 or scanning the QR codes displayed across stations, ensuring a seamless and paperless journey.
Officials attribute the consistent increase in ridership to the metro’s efficient connectivity, shorter travel durations, and passenger-friendly features. With its growing popularity, Mumbai Metro Line 3 is not only strengthening the city’s public transport network but also significantly reducing congestion on major traffic corridors — marking a new era in Mumbai’s urban mobility.
