Hyderabad, Nov 3: The Kanara Catholic Welfare Association (KCWA), Hyderabad, celebrated Monthi Fest with faith and festivity, followed by its Annual General Body Meeting (AGM) on 14th September 2025 at St Francis Chapel and School, Secunderabad.

The day began with children joyfully carrying baskets of flowers and showering them on Infant Mary, a tradition symbolizing purity and devotion. The procession to the chapel was a beautiful sight, setting the tone for the solemn eucharistic celebration in Konkani and English. Fr Praveen Dsouza and Fr Valentine D'Mello celebrated mass, accompanied by a stirring Konkani choir that reminded everyone that “singing well is praying twice.”

The AGM commenced in the St Francis High School Hall, with anchor Loydon Mendonca steering the proceedings. President capt. Ashley Coelho delivered an inspiring address, expressing gratitude and urging members for stronger participation in the coming year—echoing the thought, “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” General secretary Lawrence Monteiro presented the annual report, while treasurer Norman Bennis gave the financial overview. An engaging open forum followed, where members appreciated the executive committee’s efforts and shared constructive suggestions. New members—five families and one individual—were warmly welcomed.

Special recognitions were conferred for academic excellence and professional achievements and excellence: Joel Martin Bennis received a merit certificate; Adrian Pereira, Anna D'Souza, and Rachitha D'Souza were honoured with achiever appreciation awards; and Richard Mendonce was felicitated for professional excellence. Meanwhile, children enjoyed games outdoors, with winners later awarded prizes.

The event continued with a sumptuous fellowship lunch with the traditional monthifest menu, after which members took part in open mic singing, tambola, and the vibrant baila dance, bringing the community together in joy and laughter. Sponsors were also honoured for their generous support.

The celebration concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Richard Mendonce and closing remarks by the anchor, affirming KCWA’s commitment to preserving faith, culture, and togetherness—like branches of one tree, rooted in unity and love.
