Daijiworld Media Network - Kasargod (SP)

Kasargod, Feb 16: An angry mob pelted stones at a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus on Wednesday February 15, after a motor bike rider was killed in an accident involving the bus in question.

Arafat (18), son of Ashraf from Uppala Bappayitotti, was seriously injured after he was hit by a KSRTC bus at Uppala. He was immediately admitted into a private hospital in Uppala, but he could not be saved. Both the driver and conductor of the bus had escaped from the spot immediately after the accident.

Thereafter, angry people threw stones at the bus and inflicted extensive damages to it. As the situation was threatening to go out of control, movement of vehicles on this stretch of the national highway was abandoned for over half an hour.

Although vehicles started moving normally thereafter, KSRTC buses preferred to stay away from this route. Kumble circle inspector of police, T P Ranjit, and Manjeshwar sub-inspector of police, Rajesh, rushed to the spot and took steps to control the situation.
