Mangaluru, Nov 11: Ullal police arrested three individuals, including a medical student, in connection with drug peddling cases at Bagambila Ground in Kotekar village and Gandi in Permannur village on November 9.

Police have seized 1.511 kg of ganja worth Rs 59,300, along with two weighing scales, two mobile phones, and a scooter used for the illegal activity.

Among the arrested is Mohammad Nigarees (22), a resident of Dhule in Maharashtra and a BAMS student at a private Ayurvedic college. Reports indicate that he brought ganja from his hometown and sold it locally to support a lavish lifestyle.

In another case, two others—Abdul Shakeeb alias Shaki (22), a resident of Urume in Natekal, and Sabir Ahmad (24), from Gandi in Permannur—were also arrested. Both work as a driver and painter, respectively, and are friends. Shakeeb reportedly procured ganja from a person named Fabeen from B C Road and was caught selling it in the Gandi area. Police recovered 420 grams of ganja and Rs 6,000 in cash from them.

The operation was carried out under the direction of Ullal police inspector Virupaksha Swamy and led by sub-inspector Siddappa Narnur.
