New Delhi, Nov 11: In the wake of Monday’s deadly explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort Metro Station that claimed at least eight lives, private carrier IndiGo has issued a travel advisory urging passengers to reach airports well in advance due to heightened security checks nationwide.

“Enhanced security measures are currently in place at all airports. We request all customers to arrive early to allow sufficient time for entry checks, screening, and check-in,” the airline announced on its official X handle.

The advisory follows the powerful blast that rocked the Red Fort area on Monday evening, prompting a massive security overhaul across Delhi and neighboring states. IndiGo also warned passengers that “as per regulatory requirements, secondary security checks may be conducted before boarding.”

Authorities have imposed high alerts across Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Mumbai, with increased surveillance and security around crowded places and religious sites.

The explosion occurred when a Haryana-registered Hyundai i20 car parked near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station suddenly blew up.

The incident came just hours after police in Faridabad dismantled a terror module linked to the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind groups, seizing 2,900 kg of explosives and a large cache of weapons.

Sources revealed that investigators suspect Umar — believed to be the driver of the car — may have triggered the blast deliberately or that it exploded accidentally near the Metro Station. Agencies are now probing his motives for being in the Red Fort vicinity.
