Ramanagara, Nov 15: In a remarkable display of communal harmony, Channapatna, the town famous for its wooden toys, has once again stood as a shining example of Hindu-Muslim unity. A Muslim businessman has funded the complete reconstruction of the centuries-old Basaveshwara Temple at Mangalvarapete in the town, spending several crores of rupees on the project.
The temple, which had fallen into a dilapidated state, has now been beautifully rebuilt with a donation of Rs 3 crore from S K Beedi owner, Syed Sadathulla Sakhaf. He not only financed the reconstruction but also actively participated in the temple’s inauguration ceremony, setting an inspiring example of interfaith solidarity.

During the event, Hindu community leaders honoured Syed Sadathulla Sakhaf by adorning him with a silver crown and showering him with flowers in appreciation of his noble gesture.
The land for the temple was donated by local residents Kempamma and Motegowda, while Sakhaf undertook the construction of the new stone temple at a cost exceeding Rs 3 crore. The newly inaugurated temple now stands as a symbol of peace, harmony, and coexistence, spreading a powerful message of unity among all communities.
Notably, this is not the first time Sakhaf has championed such initiatives. Earlier, in Sante Mogenahalli, he had built a Veerabhadreshwara Temple with his own funds and had even constructed a Hindu temple and a Muslim dargah within the same compound — a gesture that had drawn widespread admiration. With the reconstruction of the Basaveshwara Temple, he has once again demonstrated his generosity and commitment to communal harmony.
