Gas disruption at MGL’s Wadala station hits CNG supply across city; domestic PNG unaffected

Daijiworld Media Network - Mumbai

Mumbai, Nov 16: A major gas supply interruption hit Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) on Saturday after third-party damage to GAIL’s main gas pipeline inside the RCF compound disrupted flow to the utility’s City Gate Station (CGS) at Wadala.

In a statement, MGL clarified that domestic PNG consumers will not face any interruption, as household supply has been prioritised. However, the halt in supply to the Wadala station has triggered a ripple effect across MGL’s pipeline network.

As a result, CNG stations in Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai — including those serving public transport fleets — may remain shut until repairs are completed.

Industrial and commercial consumers in the affected zones have been urged to switch to alternate fuels temporarily. MGL said supply will be restored once GAIL completes repair work and gas flow to CGS Wadala resumes.

The utility also expressed regret over the inconvenience caused to consumers amid ongoing efforts to stabilise the network.
