Right-wing leader arrested in Udupi on hate speech charges

Udupi, Nov 19: A right-wing organisation leader, Ajekar resident Ratnakar Ameen (49) was arrested after a case was registered against him on charges of delivering a hate speech.

On November 15, during a protest held near the city’s Jatka Stand by Hindu Jagarana Vedike, Udupi taluk, condemning the Islamic terror act related to the New Delhi bomb blast, he had allegedly delivered a provocative speech that created hatred between religions.

Udupi town police had registered a suo motu case in this regard. On November 18, a special team led by town police inspector Manjunath V Badiger took him into custody at Mangaluru Central railway station and produced him before the court.
