Man arrested for attempting to sell MDMA in Puttur

Puttur, Nov 20: A man who was allegedly attempting to sell MDMA was taken into custody after police received credible information about the illegal activity.

According to reports, on November 15, Puttur Town police received information that a person was illegally selling the banned psychotropic substance MDMA at a rented room belonging to Veena near Mukrampady Kammadi Wood Mill in Kemminje village, under the jurisdiction of Puttur Town police station. Acting on the tip-off, Puttur Town police sub-inspector Janardhan K M and his team visited the location for inspection.

During the search, the police found the accused in the rented room in possession of 14 grams of MDMA, which he was allegedly attempting to sell illegally. The accused has been identified as Mohammad Mustafa (36), a resident of Puttur Kabaka. A case has been registered against him at Puttur Town police station under Crime No. 109/2025, Section 8(C), 22(b) of the NDPS Act.

Police stated that Mohammad Mustafa is a repeat offender. Earlier, a POCSO case had been registered against him at Puttur Town police station under Crime No. 141/2015, in which he was sentenced to three years of imprisonment. Additionally, cases related to drug peddling had already been registered against him under Crime Nos. 48/2024 and 108/2024 at the same station.
