Mumbai, Nov 20: A 23-year-old moneylender has been arrested for allegedly abducting, stripping, and assaulting a man over unpaid dues, police said on Thursday. The incident occurred early Wednesday.
According to Vakola police, the accused, Deva Pawar, along with three associates who are currently on the run, kidnapped 28-year-old Gitesh Kadam from Santacruz in an SUV and took him to an industrial estate in Vikhroli. There, Kadam was tied with a rope and beaten with a hockey stick, which eventually broke due to the force of the assault. Pawar’s parents were also present at the spot, officers said.

The group allegedly filmed the assault and threatened to circulate the video online if Kadam failed to repay the loan.
Kadam managed to contact a friend, Rupesh Dagade, who intervened and secured his release. He was then taken to V N Desai Hospital for treatment.
Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including kidnapping and criminal intimidation, and are searching for the remaining accused.
