Fire near Dharavi tracks disrupts Harbour line services, no injuries reported

Daijiworld Media Network - Mumbai

Mumbai, Nov 22: A fire broke out on Saturday afternoon at Navrang Compound near the railway tracks in Dharavi, temporarily suspending Harbour line train services towards CSMT.

The Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB) received the first alert at 12:29 pm and classified it as a Level-I fire within minutes. The blaze, restricted to a ground-plus-one hutment structure, prompted the swift deployment of MFB units along with Mumbai Police, a 108 ambulance team, and local ward officials.

As a precaution, train services on the Harbour line towards CSMT were halted at 12:43 pm due to the fire’s close proximity to the tracks. By 1 pm, authorities confirmed that no injuries had occurred.

The fire erupted in shanties located along the up Harbour line between Bandra and Mahim, also disrupting the overhead electric supply in the area.
