Trump hopes Greene will return to politics despite fallout

Washington, Nov 23: President Donald Trump expressed hope Saturday that Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene might resume her political career, even after their recent public fallout. Greene, a high-profile Republican, shocked many by announcing she will resign in January.

In a phone interview with NBC News, Trump said, “It’s not going to be easy for her” to return to politics, but added, “I’d love to see that,” noting that she needs to “take a little rest” in the meantime.

The rift grew after Greene criticized Trump for prioritizing foreign leaders over domestic issues and pushed for the release of the Jeffrey Epstein files, which Trump initially opposed. Trump labeled Greene a “traitor” and withdrew support for her re-election bid.

A source close to Greene said her decision to step down was influenced by the threats and harassment she and her three adult children have faced. “She looks forward to being a private, normal person again,” the source added, emphasizing that Greene stood by Trump in Congress despite disagreements.

Trump, who has a history of reconciling with former allies, said he could “patch up differences with anyone.” Greene’s resignation caught the White House and House leadership by surprise, complicating matters for GOP Speaker Mike Johnson amid the party’s slim majority.

Greene’s departure has sparked speculation about her future, but her close aide insisted she is leaving politics for good. Potential successors, including Republican state senator Colton Moore, are already positioning themselves for her soon-to-be vacant seat.
