New Delhi, Nov 26: India and Slovenia reviewed their growing economic partnership at the 10th Session of the India–Slovenia Joint Committee on Trade and Economic Cooperation (JCTEC) held in New Delhi on Wednesday. The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation across key sectors and charting a forward-looking roadmap for enhanced bilateral trade and investment.
The session was co-chaired by Saket Kumar, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, and Peter Japelj, Director General for Economic, Cultural and Scientific Diplomacy, Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Slovenia.

Bilateral trade between the two nations has been steadily rising in recent years, reflecting the deepening ties and shared economic interests. Slovenia’s strategic location at the crossroads of Central Europe, combined with India’s expanding presence in the region, provides a unique platform to enhance connectivity and collaboration.
“This convergence of geographies and interests provides a strong foundation for deepening cooperation in trade, technology, innovation, and connectivity,” a press release stated.
Discussions included a detailed review of the global and domestic economic outlook, along with an assessment of bilateral trade and investment relations. Sectoral cooperation was explored across agriculture, chemicals and pharmaceuticals, health, transport, energy, tourism, MSMEs, and Ayurveda and traditional systems of medicine. Both sides expressed hope for an early and mutually beneficial India–EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA).
During his visit, Peter Japelj also met Commerce Secretary Rajesh Agrawal to further discuss avenues for strengthening bilateral cooperation.
The 10th JCTEC reaffirmed India’s commitment to building a dynamic and future-ready economic partnership with Slovenia, based on shared values, confidence, and a vision for deeper collaboration across Europe and India.
