Karkala, Nov 28: A leopard that had come in search of food near the house of Thimmappa Pujary in Padukuduru, located along the Hebri–Karkala border, was trapped by the forest department and later released into the wild.

The leopard was found sitting near an outer room adjacent to the house, seemingly waiting for prey. The residents, who noticed unusual sounds and spotted the leopard from a distance, immediately alerted the forest department.

Personnel from the department rushed to the spot and began operations with a cage. After nearly two hours of careful effort, the leopard was safely trapped and transported to the forest.

According to the department, the leopard is estimated to be about three years old. After a medical examination, it was released into a safe forest area.

Karkala range forest officer Prabhakar Kulal, deputy range forest officers Karukar Acharya, Chandrakant Pol, Rohini, forest guards, and local residents took part in the operation.
