New Delhi, Dec 4: A crucial closed-door meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP National President JP Nadda and General Secretary (Organisation) BL Santhosh at Parliament House on Wednesday has sparked fresh speculation over major organisational changes within the ruling party.
The discussion, which lasted nearly an hour, reportedly focused on key political and structural matters, including the election of the next BJP national president, the appointment of a new party chief in Uttar Pradesh and the possibility of a reshuffle in the Union Cabinet.

Ahead of this development, a coordination meeting between BJP and the RSS was held on Monday at the residence of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in Lucknow. Deliberations in that meeting centred on selecting a new state president for the party in UP. Sources suggest the announcement could come within this week, paving the way for the election of the next national president soon after.
JP Nadda, who has been leading the BJP since 2020, received an extension in 2023. Although the party constitution mandates a formal election, the BJP customarily finalises a consensus nominee who is subsequently elected unopposed. Party insiders indicate that the process is likely to accelerate following January 14.
Names of senior leaders including Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan, Bhupender Yadav, Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya are being discussed as leading contenders for the top organisational post.
