Puttur, July 29: BJP leader Arun Kumar Puthila, along with 25 to 30 others, has been booked by Puttur Town police for allegedly blocking a road and disrupting public and vehicular movement while demanding repairs to a road stretch at Mayangala in Narimogaru village.

The incident took place on the morning of July 27, 2026, on the Purusharakatte–Shantigodu–Anadka route at Mayangala. Puttur Town Police sub-inspector Suresh C T received information that a group of people had gathered on the road and were obstructing the movement of vehicles and the public.

Acting on the information, the sub-inspector, along with police personnel, visited the spot and conducted an inspection. Police found that Arun Kumar Puthila, Manish Kulal, Avinash Jogi, Premaraj, Prateek Puthila, Shriram Pathala, Umesh Kodibailu, Anil Tenkila, Ravikumar Rai, Jagadish Rai and Prashanth Nekkiladi, along with others, had allegedly gathered with around 25 to 30 people and blocked the road without obtaining prior permission.

The group had reportedly staged the blockade demanding that the road be repaired, thereby causing inconvenience to the public and affecting smooth traffic movement.

A case has been registered at Puttur Town police station as Crime No. 93/2026 under Sections 189(2) and 126(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. Further investigation is under way.
