New Delhi, Dec 4: In what has become one of the biggest operational setbacks for IndiGo in recent years, the airline has been forced to cancel and delay hundreds of flights nationwide, leaving thousands of passengers frustrated and stranded at airports.
Over the last two days, nearly 300 flights have been cancelled across major airports including Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata. Long queues, anxious families and mounting anger marked the scenes inside terminals as travellers waited for updates with little clarity on revised timings.

IndiGo, in its public apology, admitted that a convergence of multiple issues had thrown its schedule into disarray. Technical snags, weather-related delays, airport congestion, winter schedule changes and fresh crew duty regulations — all combined to create an unprecedented disruption that the airline says it “could not have anticipated”.
To regain stability, IndiGo has revised its schedules for the next 48 hours, describing the move as a temporary but necessary step to restore normal operations. The airline has assured that affected passengers will be assisted with rebookings or refunds wherever possible.
Major airports have reported severe ripples of the crisis. In Bengaluru, several flights were delayed for long hours, with travellers complaining about poor communication. Hyderabad airport witnessed dozens of cancellations early this morning, causing widespread confusion. Similar disruptions were reported in Delhi, where flights to and from key destinations like Kolkata, Goa and Pune were among the worst hit.
Passengers took to social media to express their dismay, alleging that many were left waiting without basic information or proper arrangements.
As the airline works to bring its operations back on track, the nationwide turbulence has raised serious concerns about resource planning and crisis preparedness during the peak travel season.
