All eyes on Nishant Kumar as JD-U hints at his entry into Bihar politics

Patna, Dec 6: A major political development appears to be taking shape in Bihar as Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s son, Nishant Kumar, is seemingly preparing to step into active politics. The strong indication came from JD-U national working president and close confidant of the Chief Minister, Sanjay Kumar Jha, who openly endorsed Nishant’s political debut.

Speaking to reporters at Patna Airport on Friday, Jha remarked that party workers and supporters were eager to see Nishant take up responsibilities within the JD-U. His statement has further fuelled widespread speculation about Nishant’s much-anticipated entry.

For quite some time now, there has been a growing demand within JD-U and the NDA alliance for Nishant Kumar to represent the party. Ahead of the recent Assembly elections, expectations were high that he might contest from Nalanda. However, the JD-U registered a strong victory without his candidature, and the discussions gradually continued behind the scenes.

The leadership of the ruling party has repeatedly made it clear that Nishant is always welcome to join politics and shoulder key roles. But the final decision, they say, lies solely with his father, Nitish Kumar.

Nishant, meanwhile, has maintained a low profile. On Friday, while speaking to mediapersons, he acknowledged the people’s mandate in favour of NDA-JD-U, calling it a blessing of Bihar’s citizens. He expressed confidence in the leadership of the Chief Minister, stating that Nitish Kumar had honoured his promises earlier and would certainly fulfil the commitment of generating one crore jobs for the youth this time as well.

With Sanjay Kumar Jha’s latest remarks coming in public, political observers believe that the wait may not be long before Nishant Kumar finally steps into the political arena, adding a new chapter to Bihar’s political landscape.
