Udupi, Dec 6: The fertility unit at the newly opened Manipal Assisted Reproduction Centre (MARC) in the Dr Ramdas M Pai Block has achieved a significant milestone, recording its 100th successful pregnancy within just 16 months of starting services.
MARC has been an integral part of Kasturba Hospital for many years, renowned for its strong clinical outcomes and the trust it has earned from patients. The specialised unit at the Dr Ramdas M Pai Block was established to strengthen and expand these services, providing a modern, purpose-built environment for advanced fertility care. This new unit functions as an extension of MARC, combining the legacy of the main centre with upgraded infrastructure and more personalised patient support.
Under the leadership of Dr Pratap Kumar, a senior reproductive medicine specialist with over forty years of experience, the unit has become a preferred destination for couples seeking fertility assistance. Dr Kumar, along with Dr Satish Adiga, achieved the first test-tube baby in Coastal Karnataka in 1999. Over the years, their team has helped achieve more than 10,000 successful pregnancies, reflecting MARC’s long-standing expertise in reproductive medicine.
“The achievement of the 100th successful pregnancy in such a short span shows the trust of our patients and the dedication of our multidisciplinary team,” said Dr Pratap Kumar. “The upgraded facilities at the Dr Ramdas M Pai Block have allowed us to offer highly specialised and compassionate care.”
