Mangaluru: Police arrest four for supplying drugs, seize MDMA worth Rs 50 lac

Mangaluru, Dec 6: In a major crackdown, Mangaluru city police have arrested four individuals involved in supplying narcotics to the public and to school and college students, seizing approximately 517.76 grams of MDMA worth nearly Rs 50 lac.

The operation was led by ACP Manoj Kumar Naik of the City Crime Branch (CCB), following precise intelligence gathering. On Saturday, December 6, the CCB team intercepted a car near Sundaram Shetty Convention Hall under the jurisdiction of Mulki police station, as the suspects were allegedly attempting to sell the narcotics.

The arrested individuals are Mohammed Shiyab, also known as Shiyab, from Navund village, Kundapura, Byndoor taluk; Mohammed Naushad, also known as Naushad, from Naringana village, Ullal taluk; Imran from Kasaba Bengre, Mangaluru; and Nisar Ahmad, also known as Nisar, from Brahmarkotlu, Bantwal taluk.

Police recovered the MDMA, weighing 517.76 grams, a blue Maruti Fronx car (KA-70-M-7115) worth Rs 10 lac that was used in the crime, and five mobile phone handsets from the accused.

Investigations revealed that the narcotics were reportedly sourced from Bengaluru by a Nigerian national and brought to Mangaluru for illegal distribution in public areas and to school and college students, with the aim of generating profit.

A case has been registered against the suspects at Mulki police station under FIR No. 124/2025, sections 22(C) and 21(C) of the NDPS Act, and Section 3(5) of the BNS Act.
