Puttur, Dec 9: In the case registered at Puttur Rural Sampya police station against Nitesh Kumar Rai under Crime No. 3/2023, sections 354(D) and 506 of the IPC had been invoked. After investigation, Puttur Rural police submitted the investigation report to the 1st additional senior civil judge court, Puttur, in 2023, and the case was taken up for trial under CC 678/23.

The complaint was filed by Samiksha Rai, daughter of Sharath Rai (broker, Kavu, Eshwaramangla). However, during the hearing, the court observed that there was no sufficient evidence to prove the allegations made by the complainant. As a result, the prosecution failed to establish the charges, and the accused was acquitted from the case on November 25, 2025. Advocate Abin P Francis of Beltangady represented the accused.

Following the acquittal, the accused is now preparing to file a defamation lawsuit.
