Los Angeles, Dec 15: Nick Reiner, son of director Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Reiner, was taken into custody by the Los Angeles Police Department in connection with the alleged murders of his parents. The dramatic arrest, captured in a photo showing Nick Reiner on the floor, was released by the LAPD Gang Unit.

According to LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell, Nick Reiner is being treated as the "main suspect" in the case. The bodies of Rob and Michele Reiner were discovered on Sunday at approximately 3:30 p.m. local time in their Brentwood home by their daughter Romy. Investigators noted "lacerations consistent with a knife," prompting immediate attendance by homicide detectives and a significant police presence at the scene.

The Reiner family released a statement expressing their grief: “It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner. We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time.”

Deputy Chief Alan S. Hamilton confirmed that the LAPD is conducting an ongoing homicide investigation. Earlier reports indicated that no suspect had been identified, though Nick Reiner was reportedly questioned following the discovery.

Sources suggest that a heated argument between Nick and Rob Reiner occurred at Conan O’Brien’s holiday party on Saturday evening, shortly before the tragic deaths.

The LAPD statement detailed the sequence of events: “On December 14, 2025, around 3:40 p.m., officers responded to a death investigation at the 200 block of South Chadbourne Avenue. Upon entering the residence, two victims were discovered, later identified as Robert and Michele Reiner. The Robbery Homicide Division initiated an investigation into the circumstances of their deaths.”

The investigation concluded that the Reiners were victims of homicide. Nick Reiner, 32, was arrested at approximately 9:15 p.m., booked for murder, and remains in custody with no bail under Booking Number 7144668. The case is scheduled to be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office on December 16 for filing consideration.
