Washington, Dec 16: Donald Trump Jr. has publicly defended Susie Wiles, President Donald Trump’s chief of staff, after a Vanity Fair article sparked controversy with remarks attributed to her following multiple interviews. The article suggested that Wiles had spoken candidly about Trump’s political instincts, his approach toward critics, and the evolution of Vice President JD Vance from a detractor to a supporter.
As excerpts from the piece circulated widely, Wiles pushed back strongly, dismissing the story as a deliberately misleading portrayal. She said her comments were taken out of context and framed in a way that sought to present the White House team as disorganised and negative, calling the article a “disingenuously framed” hit piece aimed at both her and the President.

Amid growing scrutiny, the White House rallied behind Wiles, with Trump Jr. emerging as one of her most vocal supporters. He described her as the most reliable and capable chief of staff his father has ever had, praising her loyalty during difficult political moments.
“When times were tough and many so-called friends abandoned my father, Susie stayed, worked relentlessly, and helped rebuild his political machinery,” Trump Jr. said, crediting her efforts as central to Trump’s successful 2024 political comeback.
Addressing claims from the interview that compared Trump’s mindset to that of an alcoholic — despite his abstinence from drinking — Trump Jr. did not engage directly with the remark but instead emphasised Wiles’ integrity and discretion. He noted that she rarely seeks recognition for her work and prefers to operate quietly behind the scenes.
“I’ve seen her dedication firsthand for years,” he said, adding that he seldom comments on his father’s staff but felt compelled to speak out in this instance. According to Trump Jr., no one is better suited to manage the demands of the role than Susie Wiles.
The remarks underscore strong internal backing for Wiles as the administration closes ranks in response to what it views as an unfair media portrayal.
