Mumbai, Dec 17: As winter sets in and seasonal fruits flood local markets, fitness experts are encouraging people to turn to affordable, homegrown options instead of costly supplements and imported produce. Fitness coach and weight loss expert Siddharth Tiwari has spotlighted the humble guava as the “highest-value, lowest-calorie” fruit available during the season.
Taking to Instagram on November 28, Siddharth explained why guava deserves a regular place in daily diets, especially for those looking to improve health without stretching their budget. Comparing its nutritional profile with popular fruits such as oranges and bananas, he said a single guava a day can make a significant difference.

Highlighting its benefits, Siddharth noted that guava is a powerhouse of vitamin C, containing nearly five times more vitamin C than an orange, making it highly effective for boosting immunity during winter. He also pointed out that guava provides more potassium than a banana, but with considerably less sugar, making it a better option for heart health and muscle function.
In addition, guava stands out for its high fibre and protein content. A medium-sized guava (around 100–150 grams) contains approximately 5.4 grams of fibre—almost double that found in many fruits—and about 3 grams of protein, which is uncommon among fruits. All this comes at under 70 calories per fruit.
Calling attention to its affordability, Siddharth said that guava costs roughly ?10 per fruit while offering a dense mix of essential nutrients that would otherwise require more expensive foods or supplements.
Labelling it the “lowest-calorie, highest-value fruit,” he encouraged people to embrace seasonal, locally available produce to support immunity, digestion and weight management during the colder months. According to him, guava is a simple yet powerful addition to a balanced winter diet.
