New Delhi, Dec 25: The Indian women’s cricket team has arrived in Thiruvananthapuram ahead of the third T20I against Sri Lanka in the ongoing five-match home series. The remaining fixtures of the series will be played at the Greenfield International Stadium.
Leading the series 2-0, the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side is in a strong position after registering convincing wins in the opening two matches at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam. India will now look to secure victory in Friday’s encounter and wrap up the series with an unassailable 3-0 lead.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared a glimpse of the team’s journey on Thursday, capturing light-hearted moments during travel. The video showed players interacting with fans at the airport, team members enjoying the flight, and a warm welcome on arrival in the Kerala capital. New debutant Vaishnavi Sharma added a fun touch by stepping into the role of team photographer mid-flight.
“On today’s flight, I was the photographer and clicked some really amazing pictures. I’ll be taking picture credit,” Vaishnavi joked in the video.
On the field, India has dominated proceedings so far. In the first T20I, a disciplined bowling display limited Sri Lanka to 121 for 6. Jemimah Rodrigues then anchored the chase with a fluent 69 off 44 balls, guiding India to a comfortable eight-wicket win.
The second match saw a similar outcome. Sri Lanka posted 128 for 9, but failed to build any substantial partnerships. India responded in emphatic fashion, with Shafali Verma smashing an unbeaten 69 off just 34 deliveries to seal a seven-wicket victory in just 11.5 overs.
Both teams are using the series as part of their build-up for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup scheduled in England next year. The tournament will begin on June 12, with the league stage running until June 28, and the final set to be played at Lord’s on July 5.
