Mumbai, Dec 30: Defending champions Mumbai Indians have appointed former Australian international cricketer Kristen Beams as their new Spin Bowling Coach, bolstering the franchise’s bowling unit ahead of the 2026 Women’s Premier League (WPL) season.
A former Australian leg-spinner, Beams brings vast international experience, having played a key role in Australia’s World Cup campaigns. She finished as the third-highest wicket-taker at the 2017 ODI World Cup and enjoyed a distinguished playing career that included one Test, 30 One-Day Internationals and 18 T20 Internationals for Australia, along with 45 T20 appearances in the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL).

Following her transition from playing to coaching, Beams has built an impressive coaching resume. She has served in coaching roles in the WBBL and The Hundred, and has also been Coach of the Australia Women’s Under-19 team. In addition, she held key positions as National Development Lead at Cricket Australia and Community Cricket Manager (South) at Cricket Tasmania.
Mumbai Indians welcomed Beams into the “Blue and Gold” family, expressing confidence that her expertise will play a crucial role as the team prepares to defend its WPL title.
With the addition of Beams to the coaching staff, the franchise aims to further strengthen its spin bowling resources and maintain its dominance in women’s cricket.
