New Delhi, Jan 1: The Election Commission has strongly refuted two police complaints filed against the Chief Election Commissioner and the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of West Bengal in connection with the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process.
In a firm statement, the office of the West Bengal CEO dismissed the allegations as pre-planned, baseless and motivated, stating that they were a deliberate attempt to intimidate election officials discharging their statutory duties related to SIR 2026.

The Commission said such intimidation tactics were aimed at derailing the electoral process by exerting external pressure on constitutional authorities. It asserted that these efforts would not succeed and that the Election Commission remains committed to conducting the revision exercise strictly in accordance with the law.
The poll body further underlined that it would take all necessary steps to identify and expose the conspiracy behind what it described as “organised and systematic” complaints, adding that attempts to obstruct the electoral process would be dealt with firmly.
Reiterating its resolve, the Election Commission said it would continue to function independently and fearlessly to safeguard the integrity of elections and ensure free and fair polls.
