Jaipur, Jan 3: Two juvenile inmates escaped from the Kota Juvenile Detention Centre in Rajasthan on Saturday morning after allegedly deceiving a security guard, police officials said.
The incident took place around 7.30 a.m. at the juvenile home located in Nayagaon. According to preliminary findings, the guard on duty allowed the two minors to come out of their barracks after they requested permission to prepare tea. The juveniles reportedly took advantage of the moment, distracted the guard and fled the premises.

The escape was discovered shortly afterwards, leaving the guard visibly shaken, sources said.
The two escapees are aged 16 and 17 and were being housed at the detention centre in connection with separate criminal cases. Police said the younger juvenile was lodged in a knife-point robbery case registered at Udyog Nagar police station, while the 17-year-old was detained in a child kidnapping case registered at Gumanpura police station.
After the incident, teams from RK Puram police station rushed to the spot, registered a case and initiated a search operation. CCTV footage from inside the detention centre and nearby areas is being examined, and staff members of the facility are being questioned to determine how the escape occurred.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Manish Sharma said multiple special teams have been constituted to track down the juveniles. “Efforts are being intensified to trace them at the earliest,” he said.
An internal inquiry has also been launched to identify any lapses or negligence in supervision and security arrangements that may have facilitated the escape.
Officials noted that such incidents underline persistent challenges in managing juvenile detention facilities, often resulting in large-scale search operations and raising concerns over custodial safety, accountability and preparedness.
