Peshawar, Jan 4: At least four police personnel were killed in two separate firing incidents reported from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in northwestern Pakistan, officials said on Sunday.
The attacks took place in Lakki Marwat and Bannu districts on Saturday, further highlighting the deteriorating security situation in the restive province.

According to Lakki Marwat police, unidentified terrorists riding motorcycles opened fire on on-duty traffic police personnel in Sarai Naurang city, killing three policemen on the spot. The attackers managed to flee immediately after the incident, police said.
In a separate incident, a police constable was shot dead in the Mandan area of Bannu district. Police said the constable was on his way from home to report for duty at the Mandan Police Station when armed assailants opened fire on him, leading to his death.
Security forces have launched search operations in both districts to trace the attackers, while investigations are underway to ascertain the motive behind the attacks.
