Kuwait, Jan 6: A viral audio clip circulating online caused widespread confusion, but Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior has clarified that claims of exemptions from residency fees under the new residency law are entirely false. Authorities confirmed that no official decision has been issued to waive residency charges for any category of residents.
The Ministry emphasized that residency procedures and fee collection remain unchanged, with all fees being collected fully in accordance with existing laws and regulations. Contrary to social media claims, there has been no partial or temporary suspension of residency charges.

Officials noted that the only exemption currently in effect pertains solely to health insurance fees, not residency fees. This exemption, issued by the Ministry of Health, applies exclusively to the first three domestic workers sponsored by Kuwaiti families and does not extend to any other fees or residents.
The Ministry urged the public to rely on official sources for accurate information and cautioned against sharing unverified content, warning that misinformation can create unnecessary confusion. Any changes to residency laws or fees, it stressed, will be communicated only through authorized channels.
