Mangaluru, Jan 7: As part of the Dakshina Kannada district administration’s Karavali Utsava, Sharadhi Pratishtana, Mangaluru, with the cooperation of Astra Gold & Diamonds, will organise a three-day ‘Kala Parba’, art, sculpture and cultural fair at Kadri Park from January 9 to 11.
Addressing a press meet held at Kadri Park, Chitrakala Chavadi, secretary S M Shivaprakash said that artworks created by artists from across the state will be exhibited and sold in 120 stalls. He added that the event will feature a national-level photography exhibition, drawing competitions for children, and several interactive programmes aimed at encouraging artists.

He informed that over 120 artists from across the country will participate in the fair, with more than 5,000 artworks on display.
The inaugural ceremony of Kala Parba, including the inauguration of art and sculpture stalls, will be held on January 9 at 5.30 pm, followed by a Bharatnatyam performance. Legislative Assembly Speaker U T Khader, district in-charge minister Dinesh Gundu Rao, MP Capt Brijesh Chowta, MLA Vedavyas Kamath, among others, will attend as chief guests.
The fair will be open to the public on January 10 and 11 from 9 am to 9.30 pm. On January 10, events scheduled from 11 am include an art dialogue, rangoli competition, children’s drawing competition, cultural fair, flute recital, felicitation of achiever artists, Saanidhya Vishesh Yakshagana by children, and an exhibition of over 100 selected photographs from the national-level photography competition.
On January 11, programmes from 11 am include a sculpture demonstration, mehendi competition, street play, art workshop and Yakshagana. At 3 pm, students of B S Desai will present a live environmental awareness watercolour demonstration, measuring 5 feet in height and 20 feet in length, said Prathishtana secretary Puneeth Shetty.
Present at the press meet were Chitrakala Chavadi honorary president Ganesh Somayaji, president Kotiprasad Alva, vice-president Sharath Holla, KSRTC divisional controller Rajesh Shetty, Raj Baikadi and Jinesh Prasad.
