Jerusalem, Jan 7: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday underscored the strength of Israel’s relationship with India, saying the two nations share a deep partnership and a common resolve to combat terrorism. His remarks followed a telephone conversation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Expressing appreciation for the interaction, Netanyahu wrote on X, “Thank you, my friend, Prime Minister Modi, for the warm conversation and friendship. I extend my best wishes to the people of India. Israel values the deep partnership with India and our shared determination to defeat terrorism.”

Netanyahu’s message came in response to PM Modi’s post, in which the Indian leader said the two had discussed ways to further enhance the India–Israel Strategic Partnership. Modi also noted that they exchanged views on key regional and global developments.
“Glad to speak with my friend, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and convey New Year greetings to him and the people of Israel,” PM Modi wrote on X. “We discussed ways to further strengthen the India–Israel Strategic Partnership in the year ahead. We also exchanged views on the regional situation and reaffirmed our shared resolve to fight terrorism with greater determination.”
According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), Netanyahu briefed Modi on the progress in implementing the Gaza Peace Plan during the call. Modi reiterated India’s long-standing position in support of initiatives aimed at achieving a just, lasting, and durable peace in the region.
The Israeli Prime Minister’s Office also highlighted the discussion, saying both leaders spoke about the depth of bilateral relations and explored ways to unlock the full potential of cooperation for the benefit of citizens of both countries.
“I had a fruitful conversation today, focused on strengthening our two countries’ national security, with my dear friend, Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” Netanyahu said in a post shared by his office. He added that he looks forward to meeting Modi in person in the near future to continue discussions.
The latest exchange builds on regular high-level engagement between the two leaders. In December as well, Modi and Netanyahu held talks on the evolving situation in West Asia, reviewed progress in bilateral cooperation, and reiterated their shared policy of zero tolerance towards terrorism.
India and Israel have steadily expanded cooperation across defence, security, technology, and innovation sectors, with both leaders repeatedly emphasising their commitment to deepening strategic ties and addressing common security challenges.
