Panaji, Jan 7: Goa is poised to get a new Lokayukta, with the formal announcement expected on Thursday. A crucial meeting was held on Wednesday to finalise the appointment, attended by the Chief Minister and the Leader of the Opposition.

During the deliberations, two candidates were considered for the post, and one name has now been selected. The Chief Minister confirmed that the government will make the official announcement once the minutes of the meeting are duly signed.

The appointment is expected to bring renewed focus to the state’s anti-corruption mechanism, with the new Lokayukta set to assume office shortly after the announcement.
