Lovlina, Nikhat clinch titles at National Boxing Championships in Noida

Noida, Jan 11: Tokyo 2020 bronze medallist Lovlina Borgohain and two-time world champion Nikhat Zareen emerged victorious in their respective weight categories at the National Boxing Championships 2026, which concluded here on Saturday.

Lovlina claimed the women’s 75kg title with a dominant performance in the final, winning 5-0 against Sanamacha Chanu Thokchom at the Gautam Buddha University. The Assamese boxer had earlier defeated Imroz Khan in the semi-finals to set up the title clash.

Nikhat Zareen continued her impressive form, clinching the women’s 52kg crown with a convincing 5-0 win over Nitu Ghanghas, a former world champion in the 48kg category.

In other women’s bouts, reigning world champion Minakshi Hooda secured the 48kg title after a comprehensive 5-0 victory over Manju Rani. Olympian Pooja Rani also impressed, beating Naina by a similar margin to win the women’s 80kg final.

In the men’s section, Jadumani Singh showcased a blend of aggression and technical finesse to lift the 55kg title, outclassing Pawan Bartwal 5-0 in the final.

The championships witnessed several top national and international performers asserting their dominance, underlining India’s growing depth in boxing.
