Lucknow, Jan 13: A software engineer from Lucknow has died under suspicious circumstances in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, with her family alleging dowry harassment, prolonged physical and mental abuse, and a premeditated murder by her husband and in-laws.

The deceased, Aiman Khan, a BTech graduate in computer science, was married to Mohammad Aamir Khan on April 10, 2025, at a hotel in Lucknow. Her father, Sher Ali Khan, has filed a complaint at Chinhat police station, accusing his son-in-law and other family members of dowry-related harassment and killing.

According to the complaint, soon after the marriage, Aamir Khan allegedly demanded an Innova car and expressed anger over a Kia Seltos not being registered in his name. The father alleged that his daughter was subjected to abusive behaviour and that her mobile phone was broken over the issue.

A few days after the nikah, Aamir Khan left for Saudi Arabia. Aiman joined him in Jeddah in June 2025, where she was allegedly subjected to continuous mental and physical harassment by her husband, his brother and two brothers-in-law. The family claimed she was repeatedly pressured to bring Rs 20 lakh from her parents and was threatened with death if the demand was not met.

Aiman returned to India in October 2025 and informed her family about the alleged abuse. Her father said he spoke to the accused, who assured him that the harassment would stop. Trusting this assurance, Aiman returned to Jeddah on October 19, 2025. However, the family alleged that the harassment resumed immediately after her return.

The complaint further stated that Aiman was denied food, forced out of the house and prevented from returning to India. Her passport and residence permit were allegedly taken away forcibly, while her father continued sending money online. On December 17, 2025, after a WhatsApp conversation with his daughter, Sher Ali Khan sensed that something was wrong. The next day, repeated calls to her went unanswered.

A neighbour later visited the residence, where Aiman was found dead in the presence of Saudi police. A family member travelled to Saudi Arabia on December 21. The family alleged that Aiman was pregnant and that her death was staged as a hanging to make it appear as a suicide.

Her body is being brought to Lucknow, and the family has demanded a post-mortem examination and strict legal action against all those involved. Chinhat police station in-charge Dinesh Mishra said a case is being registered based on the complaint and the matter is under investigation.
